Recreational Information:
Country Clubs: The clubs in the Madison area offer golf, tennis, swimming, and fine dining. The Annandale Country Club with its Jack Nicklaus designed course is host to the annual PGA-sanctioned Southern Farm Bureau Golf Classic. Other clubs include Whisper Lake Country Club, Northbay Country Club, Lake Caroline Country Club and Colonial Country Club’s Deerfield Course.

Shopping:
The Old Madison Station District, once the center of railroad activity in Madison, is now home to numerous shops and galleries. You’ll find this area perfect for browsing and buying.

The Reservoir and Other Parks:
The 33,000 acre Ross Barnett Reservoir, just east of the city, is perfect for fishing, sailing, boating, water skiing, picnicking, camping, and walking its trails. There are 40 parks and recreational areas within the Reservoir area.

Strawberry Patch Park: Strawberry Patch Park is a seven-acre neighborhood park inside the city of Madison that combines walking trails with exercise stations, playground equipment and picnic areas, all surrounding a serene lake.

Simmons Arboretum:
The Simmons Arboretum features a wonderful walking tour through a variety of Mississippi’s plants, trees, and shrubs.

Natchez Trace Parkway:
The historic Natchez Trace Parkway is a scenic highway with picnic sites, historic markers, and nature trails.

Liberty Park:
Liberty Park is a multi-purpose sports complex offering lighted baseball/softball fields, regulation soccer fields, lighted batting cages, beach volleyball courts, a paved walking track and a cross-country track under construction.

Liberty Village Playground:
Liberty Village Playground is a wonderful playground designed from the imaginations of Madison children, is also located at Liberty Park and offers fun for children of all ages!

Youth Recreational Services and Programs:
A wide variety of sports and day camps are available to children and youth in baseball, softball, basketball, soccer and a summer day camp extravaganza.

Madison Square Center For The Arts:
The Madison Square Center for the Arts is situated in the heart of Madison on Main Street. It provides classes in all the cultural arts; art, dance, music and drama. The Arts Center is home to Ballet Mississippi, the Madison Center Players theatre group, the Richard Allen drama group, and numerous artists and musicians. Libraries:
The Rebecca Baine-Rigby Library is a part of the Madison County Library System and has an extensive collection of fiction and reference books that tops 45,000 volumes. It also features a music collection on compact disc, videotapes and audio books and has Internet access.

Other Events and Activities:
Other events and activities include The City of Madison Annual Christmas Parade, the Harvest-Time Scarecrow Festival and FreedomFest, the summer LibertyFest, a Madison Merchant Spring Affair, the GermanFest, Cajun Fest, Day in the Country at historical Chapel of the Cross, as well as monthly bridge games, and an annual Valentine’s Day Social. An active Chamber of Commerce in partnership with The Caboose Society, Madison’s Retirement Program and the city’s Recreation and Parks Department continue to provide family and community events that underscore the hometown spirit of Madison.
